Love, flowers and birthday

I'm trying to get together a box of cards, possibly for Operation Write Home, but it is slow going. Here are a few all made with the Silhouette Cameo.  The Happy Birthday is a stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

The center of the next two flowers are homemade "enamel" dots.  I saw The Frugal Crafter on YouTube make them from card stock and Glossy Accents.  It's a great idea to get the exact color you want, but it's going to take some practice.

This n that

Just using up some patterned paper.  Next time I make a set of cards, I'll think ahead and make the stripes go the same way.

And a butterfly made with the Silhouette Cameo and some gems.

Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit #2

This card needs something more, it seems unfinished. Maybe something around the edges or maybe the stamps are too big?  It looked better in my head.

Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit #1

Here is the first card I made with the SSS July kit.  I liked this kit more than last month's kit but for some reason it was harder to come up with ideas.

Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit #3, 4 and 5

Here are three more cards using the Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit.  I may be able to squeeze out a few more.  All in all I enjoyed my first card kit.  It was hard work since I am not naturally creative and the supplies were not what I would have picked but that's what also made it fun.  I also really enjoyed looking at the SSS blog to see what others had done with the same supplies.  I found it very interesting that the first card I made was with the map paper and as of right now, it is still the only card using the map paper on the blog.  I seem to always go for the underdog.

For the hello card, I colored the alphabet stickers we were given.  It never occurred to me to do this until I saw someone else do it.  My mind is just not set up that way.  I can't see the options.  I am constantly amazed at what the other women think to do and how they think outside the box.  I am definitely inside the box.

Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit #2

AArrrgggg. It's always something.  I used glue instead of tape on the green striped background and it is buckling. This is my 2nd card made from the June card kit.

I need to learn to take better pictures.  This card looks much better in person, except for the buckling - I swear.

Belated Easter Carrot Boxes

I made these 3D Easter carrot boxes for Easter using the Silhouette Cameo.  The cut file was perfect .  All the sides matched up and they were very easy to put together.  I've had some disasters in the past so I was relieved and happy these worked out so well.  I put Cadbury mini eggs in them and they held a lot more than I thought they would.  I hope someone has a farm themed or vegetarian themed birthday party because I'll be ready with the carrots!

Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit

This was my first card kit and I have to say it started out as a struggle but I really enjoyed it.  I would never in a million years have chosen the papers myself.  I like bright, happy colors and these were really muted and distressed (dirty to me).  I am a beginner so my card is very simple and plain.  I think it would make a good card for a man.

I can't wait for this nice, long weekend so I can play some more and maybe come up with something a bit fancier.  I was mentally exhausted when I was finished but it felt really good.  Hopefully I'll be back in a few days with a few more cards from the June kit.

Happy Birthday Card

Ooooh this card took too long.  I just don't have the knack for figuring out how big or small something should be even though I have an exact mock up of the card front on the Silhouette Cameo.  On the computer screen everything looks great.  After the letters are cut and ready to be glued to the card front, I realize the letters are too small and I don't like the font.  This picture shows my third try.  It's not perfect but I have to mail it in the morning and to be honest, I'm tired of it.  I also need help with gluing.  I glue like a first grader.  It's something I definitely need to work on.  No matter how little I use, it smooshes out the side.

I also just noticed that the white card stock on the left hand side is crinkly.  I just can't win.

Hot Soup on a Warm Day

I've been waiting for a cold winter day so that I can make some soup.  Waiting, waiting, still waiting.  It doesn't look like we are actually going to have a winter (Sorry rest of the U.S.)  So here is a hearty winter soup on a warm day.  The recipe is from Lucinda Scala Quinn's show, Mad Hungry.  I couldn't find dry cannellini beans so I used white northern beans.  The soup was okay, not great.  Good enough to eat but not good enough to make again.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  Here are some small pillow boxes I made with my Silhouette Cameo.  The boxes are filled with  M&Ms.  My Silhouette is one of the best things I ever treated myself to.  It was an investment that was well worth it.  It is a great stress reliever and with basically no artistic skill whatsoever, I have been able to make some cute things.

What Am I Doing?

What am I doing?  An old dog learning new tricks. I'm almost 49 and am going to venture into the Blog World and see what happens.  I have no idea how to do anything and I don't know anyone who has a blog so this process should be interesting.  Am I too old to figure this out?  Will anyone see it?  I'm not telling anyone about it, let's just see what happens. . .
